Chatel is a beautiful village, positioned between 1,200 m and 1,400m altitude on the French side of the Portes Due Soleil one of the largest ski areas in the world; with the highest slope sitting at 2254m. Hosting 300 pistes and 12 individual resorts spanning France and Switzerland, it offers an enormous amount of variety not only in terms of the vast skiing area, but also in the nearby villages to visit. The Portes du Soleil is made up of Chatel, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Morzine, Saint Jean D’aulps, Montriond, La Chapelle d’ Abondance and Abondance on the French side and Les Crosets, Champoussin, Champery, Morgins and Torgons on the swiss side.
